2014 Sony World Photography Awards Name Britain's Best Amateur Photographer - The 2014 Sony World Photography Awards have announced the winner of the UK National Award.

London based photographer Sean Batten has been crowned 'Britain’s best amateur photographer' at the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards.

Sean has taken the top title in the UK National Award category and his winning entry - 'The Calm Before the Storm' - was selected from over 5,800 entries by a local panel of judges.

The jury also selected ePHOTOzine member Simon Morris (BURNBLUE) to take second place and Simon Butterworth came third.

As the UK National Award winner, Sean receives the latest Sony digital camera equipment and will attend the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony in London on 30 April.  The winning photograph will also be exhibited at Somerset House, London from 1-18 May as part of the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition and published on The World Photography Organisation website. 

The World Photography Organisation also announced today the winners of the Open and Youth categories of the Sony World Photography Awards plus the winners of the 37 other National Awards across the world. I would like to know why this article's title is written the way it is, dishonoring photographers everywhere by calling a photographer a "Tog" . . . huh?
