Ex-Spicer Hallfield factory manager starts new company
Posted: 2 Jul 2009
New album solutions company - Ex-Spicer Hallfield factory manager launches new album solutions company.
Just weeks after the demise of presentation solutions company Spicer Hallfield, its former factory manager has launched MTA - a new albums business, in the same Buckinghamshire village.Following protracted negotiation Martin Abraham, who served with Spicer Hallfield for 23 years, has secured UK distribution rights for the popular repositionable self-adhesive products (formerly part of the Spicer Hallfield Madison & Manhattan ranges) The new company currently employs ten staff – with an aggregate 100 years of experience in the album making industry.
Said Abraham: “Spicer Hallfield was a legacy company and its closure was a very sad day indeed for all staff and customers. However, over recent years I had become very frustrated by the company’s inability to develop products that the market place really needed. Now MTA will put that right. My staff here were a major driver in my decision to start this company and John Day, a former Spicer Hallfield MD has provided me with priceless sector knowledge and general business counsel. This new team is passionate about introducing great new products and together we have the perfect opportunity to look at the market in a completely different way.”
He added: “We have won the contract for the hugely popular self-adhesive products and we’ve got a skilled and dynamic team right here on our doorstep. We are all highly motivated to drive this new business forward, despite the current recessive gloom.”
The new Haddenham-based factory has developed ranges it believes will appeal to all photographer customers.
Abraham commented: “We are sourcing only high quality materials and they will be developed and hand-finished by our elite professional team in our new, purpose-built factory environment. Our self-adhesive product lines bring complete flexibility options to our customers and we intend to extend this range in the coming months with new sizes and compelling new covers.
We will also offer a range of post bound albums in a range of quality covers – and a key advantage for our customers will be the opportunity to trial new covers materials, quarter-bound covers and personalisation options.”
In addition to the core album range MTA also markets a range of accessories including CD folios and mini pocket books.
All products from MTA are available through the company’s extensive nationwide distributor network. For full distributor details email MTA Photo.

My thoughts exactly, Mike, I remember using Spicer Hallfield albums when I worked at Olan Mills and they were excellent quality.
