Top photographer launches pioneering online training programme - ‘High quality training should be affordable and easily accessible to all’– Mark Cleghorn
Press Release:One of Britain’s best-known photographers has launched a revolutionary online training site that he claims could change forever the way photographers learn their profession.
Cardiff-based Mark Cleghorn, who holds four industry Fellowships and has hundreds of photo-awards to his name, including 17 coveted Kodak Gold Awards, has spent months secretly setting up Phototraining4u.com – a unique ‘affordable’ online resource for both amateur and professional photographers.
Cleghorn revealed: “Alongside my own photography business I have been teaching and training photographers for 16 years both in the UK and abroad. Now I have channelled all that priceless experience into this pioneering new venture. Phototraining4u has been launched to provide high quality online training for photographers at all levels – and all for the price of a coffee and a sandwich per session. Our customers will be able to access a minimum of 50 videos at launch, covering all aspects of photography from camera lighting, software techniques and application, to business ideas, tips and tricks of the trade and constantly updated new kit reviews.”
He added: “Each video session will be coffee break length (around 20 minutes) and we will be adding a new theme each week. Photographers can dip in and out as they wish. The streaming video will be ‘Real and Raw’ and our subscribers can simply search the menu for the topics they want to cover. And they can access the video content as many times as they want at no extra cost.”
Cleghorn, who will be promoting the new programme extensively at Focus, is discounting the £199 annual fee to £149 (including VAT) for photographers signing up before the end of March.
He said: “This new programme enables photographers to learn both new and ‘back to basics’ techniques on every photo-subject under the sun – and in handy bite-size chunks. They will be able to monitor real client shoots and the sessions will be ‘warts and all’…. showing how professionals cope in real-life situations. If, for example we’re shooting on a beach and it starts raining – we will show photographers how to cope with that situation. If a small child won’t stop crying during a video shoot about family portrait photography – we will describe in real time how to solve that challenge.”
Cleghorn admits his new site will negatively affect sales of his own extensive library of ‘how-to’ videotapes that he has been selling for years at up to £70 a time. “All that is now history” he said. “This is the new way. Photographers need top quality training that they can afford and that is easily accessible…especially during a recession. This new programme provides the perfect solution. It’s a no-brainer.”
Key imaging companies, including manufacturers and a leading prolab, are being lined up to work with the Phototraining4u.com programme.
Said Cleghorn: “We are talking to some major companies about how we can evolve the programme over coming months.”
