Police make two arrests in Trent Keegan murder case

Posted: 26 Jun 2008
Two arrests in photographer homicide case - Two men have been arrested for the murder of the late photojournalist Trent Keegan who was found dead last month.

Trent KeeganKenyan police have arrested two men for the murder of photojournalist Trent Keegan following the launch of a homicide investigation. Trent, who was 33 and from New Zealand, was found dead in a drainage ditch in Nairobi, Kenya on the 28th May following severe injuries to the head.

The men have been arrested in charges of robbery with violence and there is still a third suspect they plan to arrest, but Keegan's family fear there was more to the murder than just plain robbery.

They believe his death may have been in some way related to a story he was working on at that time and Keegan had told family that he feared he may be murdered.

Suspicion is further fuelled by the fact that while Mr Keegan's laptop computer and camera equipment were stolen by his killers, his wallet was left in his pocket untouched.

He was last seen by friend Dave Redmond after meeting for dinner in Nairobi. “The last thing I remember him saying before he left was he does not feel safe travelling with equipment worth $60,716,” Redmond told EPUK.

More information about Trent and his photography can be found at his website.
