Rumours of a new Nikon

Posted: 28 Jul 2008
Author hints towards Nikon release - Nikon author has suggested that a new camera will be released soon.

nikon logoA best-selling author of books about digital photography and imaging technology has said a new camera will be announced soon.

In his amazon blog David D. Busch, who has been working closely with Nikon said: "My guidebooks for the D700, D3, and a soon-to-be announced additional camera won't be available until this Fall, but I'll be keeping you updated in the coming weeks."

With his blog only mentioning a camera we can't say if this refers to a DSLR, however it does suggest that Nikon do have something in the pipeline.

When asked to deny or confirm the rumours, Jenny Grace at Nikon said:"We are unable to comment on the development of any future products before their official announcement."

Crikey - what devastating news. It's almost as unexpected as saying it might rain sometime.

Of course a new camera is imminent - they always are

PS: Hopefully Nikon will also release a spare letter "U" as there seems to be a shortage at ePZ Towers

I heard a few months ago that a D3X would be released at a later date, the D3 was to be the new 'H' model or upgrade fron D2H - but they were dropping the 'H'.

I think it's inevitable that the 'x' version will appear (whatever it's called). More pixels but probably not necessarily a good move IQ wise (more pixels means more noise - as always - horses for courses)

Amazon did a similar think with the Canon "5D Mk2" a little while I seem to recall.

And there was me thinking Nikon would never again release a new camera. To be serious, there is a massive gap between the ~£450 D80 and the ~£950 D300. Hi ho. I wonder what they might release next?

I heard as far back as April that a replacement for the D80 was scheduled. D90??
