Travel Photographer of the Year makes last call for entries

Final call for entries - Entries for the 2008 Travel Photographer of the Year competition close on September 9th, so you’ve still got time to compete for your chance to win superb prizes and gain international exposure for your photography.
Press Release:The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers of all ages, and there are special categories for under 17s and for inexperienced amateur photographers. Images may be submitted as prints, or uploaded via the online entry system on www.tpoty.com.
This year’s overall winner will join High & Wild on the 2009 Everest Skydive Expedition, an incredible opportunity for a photographer to capture amazing images as the world’s elite skydivers make their jump amongst some of the world’s highest mountains. And there are other highly photogenic prize trips for the three portfolio category winners, in the form of Intrepid Travel trips along the River Ganges in India, to colourful and fascinating Cuba and to see the mountain gorillas of Uganda.
The TPOTY prize list also features some of the best photographic equipment available. This includes a large format Linhof Technorama panoramic camera, Adobe professional imaging software, Wacom interactive pen displays and pen tablets, Lee filters, Iridius and PhotoIconic photography courses, Plastic Sandwich leather portfolio books, Lexar Professional CompactFlash cards and Dual-slot USB card readers and a Pixfizz online image gallery and Pixfizz custom-built photography books.
As well as receiving great prizes, the winners and other highly-ranked photographers will see their images feature in the new Travel Photographer of the Year book, Journey Three, and displayed at TPOTY exhibitions.

Further information and entry forms are available from here. The competition closes on September 9th. Entry costs £10 for a single image category and £15 for a portfolio category, and entry to Young TPOTY (for photographers aged 16 and under) is free.
TPOTY background
Travel Photographer of the Year was launched in 2003, and rapidly became one of the world's most prestigious photographic competitions. Entries are received from amateur and professional photographers in over 60 countries every year. The prize packages always combine imaginative travel and the latest photographic equipment. The overall winner of TPOTY 2007, Cat Vinton, is currently preparing for her High & Wild prize trip to Dharamsala, India, where she will photograph the Dali Lama.
