Wild Scotland Photo Competition with Andy Cairns

Posted: 27 Jun 2008
Competition win for member - ePHOTOzine member Harry Brenkley (HenB) wins 2nd place in The Wild Scotland photo competition with his image Sudden Death.

Sudden Death by Harry Brenkley ePHOTOzine member Harry Brenkley, better known as HenB on the site, has won 2nd place in the Wild Scotland photography competition judged by renowned nature photographer Andy Cairns.

The theme of the competition was simply Winter Wildlife and offered a wildlife watching trip as first prize along with the chance to be published on the Wild Scotland website and in The Scotsman newspaper

“I feel really proud to have won the competition,” said Henry. “Although I only came second and didn't win a prize, it's a great honour to be a runner up in a national competition.”

The winning photograph, called Sudden Death, was of a hare and stoat and was taken in February of this year.

“I'm a Site Manager for a local construction company and often stop between visiting sites to have my lunch in the car. I saw the scene while in a car park in Castle Eden Walkway. The stoat chased and captured the rabbit and luckily I managed to get a few shots before it disappeared. I always carry my gear in the car in case of moments like this,” he said.

“I have been dabbling in photography for about eight years now but it is only in the last three that I have become more serious and invested in some better equipment. This is the first competition I have entered but it has inspired me to enter more in the future!”

ePHOTOzine would like to congratulate Harry on his achievement and wish him the best of luck with his photography.

And the winner of that competition was another ephotozine member, Bexter. Well done both of you.
