Access all areas - Photographer finds confidential files at abandoned hospital in Scotland.
An amateur photographer has discovered a series of x-ray photographs and confidential patient files while taking pictures at an abandoned hospital in Lanarkshire.
Gary Whittle was taking photographs with friends when he came across the files which contained confidential information including the names, address and contact details of hundreds of patients.
“I was there with a few of my friends and found various x-rays scattered on the floor with the names and dates of births clearly visible to anyone that might find them,” Gary told the BBC.
The building had been left open to members of the public with no signs stating that entry is not allowed, no security guards and no attempt to close off access from trespassers making easy access for any passers by.
NHS Lanarkshire said that they were taking the matter “extremely seriously.”
