Four years ago Apple introduced the first iMac, now they've announced the new iMac for 2002. Looking unusual but stylish this new product is bound to create quite a stir. With the release of the new Mac operating system Mac OS X even die-hard PC users may find it hard to challenge the appeal of a Mac.
At first glance they look good value for money, the top end model comes with a combined DVD writer and CD writer, 800MHz G4 processor, 256MB SDRAM, 60Gb Hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX graphics card, and modem, ethernet, firewire and USB built in. Only time will tell how popular they will be, but the unique styling and ergonomics offered by the iMAC hint that it'll be a great success.
The first model will be released in 2-3 weeks for 1,360 from Apple direct. In late February a cheaper model for 1,105 will be available, and in late March the cheapest model of 977 will be sold.
