New ED binoculars from Barr & Stroud - High definition, high fidelity binoculars set for Spring appearance.

Press Release:
Award-winning binocular brand Barr & Stroud has some exciting new Spring 2011 additions to its range.
Its five-strong, top-of-the-range Savannah series will be available in ED versions – the popular wideangle 8x42 and 10x42 models in mid March and 8x56, 10x56 and ultra powerful 12x56 models in mid April.
Lenses made from ED (Extra Low Dispersion) glass have fewer air bubbles and flaws in the glass, so are less likely to cause image distortion. The ED glass prevents chromatic aberration so these models offer superb colour fidelity, high definition and rich contrast.
This elegant range of high precision binoculars also boasts standard Savannah features, including Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) optics, tethered dustproof caps, stay-on rainguard, durable rubber armouring, and are nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging. They are waterproof to a depth of 1.5m for up to three minutes.
The first shipment of ED versions of Barr & Stroud's Series 4 sports binoculars, available in December, sold out in the two weeks.
Sales director of parent company Optical Distribution Services, Mac Bills, said: “Back orders for the Savannah indicate that this range is likely to be as popular. Orders for the 8x56 are particularly strong – dealers are stocking these for customers who want good light-gathering capability early in the morning and those interested in night-time astro-viewing.”
The RRP for the 8x42 and 10x42 models is £339.95; £359.95 for the 8x56, £369.95 for the 10x56 and £379.95 for the 12x56. For more information please visit the Barr and Stroud website.
