Bowens Streamlite lighting‘Our new Streamlite 530 is the next best thing to the Sun’: Robert Cook, Bowens marketing director

Press release:

Bowens has launched what it describes as the ultimate point and shoot continuous light range. The new Streamlite 330  (MSRP £175 incl VAT) and 530 (MSRP £220 incl VAT) are available now.

Explained Robert Cook, marketing director: “These new lights are ‘plug and go’ simple. And the larger 530 version is simply next best thing to the Sun. If you are looking for a constant stream of beautiful daylight-balanced light the Streamlite is the perfect choice. It’s the ultimate in point and shoot simplicity. Switch on the 330 and the three 30W fluorescent bulbs, combined with the large detachable reflector with its brilliant white surface, deliver a wide spread of directional ‘sunlight’ – and the 5600K lamps mean no more time consumed with white camera balance to eliminate the blue or green hues traditionally associated with fluorescent light.”

Ten thousand hour, cool-running lamps deliver a soft, even light output equivalent to 330W of tungsten light.

“This makes Streamlite ideal for situations where the subject matter may be adversely affected by high levels of heat, such as food products or even close-up portraiture” added Cook.

The new Streamlite 530 provides a ’bigger brother’ option for photographers.

Said Cook: “The 530 is the ‘Big Easy’ of continuous lighting. Five independently controlled spiral lamps make large creative lighting set-ups a breeze. The two extra bulbs mean a total output equivalent of up to 550W of tungsten lighting – but with the same cool-running, long-life efficiency as the smaller unit. Both Streamlites ship with an elasticised diffuser that fits quickly and neatly over the reflector to create even softer light on demand.”

Bowens is also offering a Streamlite 330 kit option comprising; two Streamlite 330s supported by portable foldaway stands plus a semi-rigid Cocoon Light tent and support stand.

Steve Aves, an Essex-based studio lighting expert said: “My own tests revealed that these new lights seem to have everything a photographer needs - and they are child-simple to use. You just switch them on, point them at the subject and shoot. You end up with top quality results. It’s the perfect solution for those photographers who don’t want to get involved with the technicalities of flash.”
