Spider Podium Tablet

The Breffo SpiderPodium Tablet Stand can be used as a camera, phone or tablet tripod, and according to the packaging, even an SLR or DSLR camera. Although with its design it reminded us of a facehugger from Alien. It is available in grey or black from around £20.

Breffo Spider Podium Tablet Handling

With three joints on each leg it is very easy to bend into many varying positions, whether it be on a flat surface or wrapped around a pole, tree branch or post. The hardest part is trying to form a uniform shape so that it is level. In the centre there is a large platform / weight so that you can place your device on this or use it at the centre of gravity for balancing the stand. The Spider Podium is easily folded into a small size to make it easy to carry around in your pocket.

Breffo Spider Podium Tablet Performance

The Spider Podium will hold a wide range of devices such as the a phone, tablet, digital cameras, and even a Digital SLR, although we would suggest entry level DSLRs with a standard lens or Mirrorless camera would be a better match than any of the heavier Digital SLRs as balance could be a bit difficult. When mounting a phone it is difficult to arrange it securely with none of the legs covering the screen, and this holds true with compact cameras as well. It is quick to arrange into shape so you can take a group shot with yourself involved, even if all you have is the floor to place it on. With the flexible legs you can point your camera upwards to get everyone in. The rubber legs grip your camera making it a lot sturdier than it may look, however with heavier cameras it may take more effort to balance.

Breffo Spiderpodium Tablet Mirrorless Support (1) Breffo Spiderpodium Tablet Mirrorless Support (2)
The Breffo SpiderPodium Tablet supports a mirrorless camera, like the Panasonic Lumix G3, extremely well and can be used in places where you wouldn't normally be able to support a camera.

Breffo Spider Podium Tablet Verdict

Priced at around £20, the Breffo Spider Podium Tablet is a fantastic gadget for those who have a camera, tablet or phone, although those with a heavier camera may be better off with a dedicated mini-tripod, such as the Manfrotto MTT2-P02 Table Tripod. It can be used as a desktop stand or tripod when out shooting. With eight legs, all bendable in four places, there are many, many ways in which the Spider Podium can be positioned, making it extremely versatile and everyone will find a different way of using it.
