Press Release: Bureau of Freelance Photographers

The Bureau of Freelance Photographers was founded in 1965 and has been publishing Market Newsletter for over forty years. Each issue is packed with opportunities for the freelance and aspiring freelance photographer. As well as giving news of magazines, picture libraries and other markets currently looking for pictures, the Newsletter also includes other useful features to help you sell your work. There is a regular profile of a successful BFP member, a Pictures that Sell feature which spotlights members pictures that have sold, a diary column and a lively letters’ page.

But the Newsletter is not the only benefit BFP members receive. In addition they get The Freelance Photographer’s Market Handbook every year as it is published. While the Newsletter keeps members up-to-date with current picture needs, the 250-page Handbook lists the continuing requirements of hundreds of markets, including magazines, greetings cards and calendars, books, and picture libraries. Additionally, members have access to the Bureau’s advisory and mediation services. Personal advice on all aspects of freelancing is available, and the Bureau can act on a member’s behalf if they encounter problems in, for example, recovering material or extracting payment for a published picture.

The membership fee for UK applicants is just £49.00 per annum (£65.00 for overseas applicants). You can also test drive BFP membership by taking up their two-month free trial offer. For further details and an application form, please visit the BFP website or email with your full name and address.
