While it may not be news to some that Camerabox have gone into administration, they have now updated their website to explain the situation. Anyone with outstanding orders should contact their bank or credit card company regarding a refund. Camerabox has posted the following statement on their website along with a FAQs section. We would recommend online purchases are made with a credit card, as this should provide protection for situations like this.

"Camerabox Limited was placed into Administration on 28 June 2011 and Martha H Thompson and David H Gilbert of BDO LLP, Kings Wharf, 20-30 Kings Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 3EX were appointed Joint Administrators.

If you have any queries, please contact them at the above address or email at BRNOTICE@bdo.co.uk.

With respect to any unfulfilled orders, you may wish to contact your credit card provider.

All queries relating to faulty products and warranty issues should be directed to the manufacturer."

I made the mistake of buying a camera from Photobox. It broke down and I returned it.They sent it back saying that there was nothing wrong with it. When it developed the same fault I sent it to Nikon uk, who repaired it. however it transpired that the camera was a grey import and not originally destined for the European market and as a result I had to pay the repair charges. After this incident i have beeb careful to buy equipment fron a recognised Nikon dealer even though it costs slightly more that the bargain basement grey importerd.

So is Camerabox and Photobox the same company...

I bought a camera with 2 lens from camera box, when the lens went faulty i could not get in touch with them, customer service was none exsistant, they trade under quite a few names so go careful when buying from the net.

My cannon 60D has a fault now im just hoping mine is not an import as i have sent it back to cannon for fixing, this was purchased from camera box.
