Camlink Roma 100 Features and quality
The Roma 100, like its bigger brothers, is made from Neoprene, the stretchy material that good camera neck straps are made of. This ensures good flexibility and softness for your camera when it is sat inside it.
What is unusual is that the strap isn't made from the same material. It has a small D-ring to attach to the case and an adjuster to keep it tight on your wrist. It is also soft, but I am confused why Neoprene was not used for the strap.
The case has a soft inner lining to make sure that your camera remains scratch free. This is a staple requirement these days and I would be very surprised to see anything less. The main compartment is sealed by a zipper which is good for security.
The front pocket is only possible to fit in a memory card, maybe some batteries, but not much else. Camlink say that other things that are non-photographic related can fit in also and this is true as the case can also be used for MP3 players, hand held games consoles and mobile phones, so additional accessories can range from earphones to spare games. One thing that irks me about the accessory pocket is that it is not sealed, so the contents could fall out if you were running, which I understand is an alien concept for us photographers, but it could happen.
Camlink Roma 100 Performance
As far as little pouches go, this one will cover all bases. It is snug, comfortable, secure and looks pretty good. The belt strap makes sure you can keep it close to you and the wrist strap has also been designed to use as a neck strap.
Camlink Roma 100 Verdict
The pouch has also been designed with Mobile phones, iPods and small games consoles in mind. Personally, I cannot see many people putting a mobile phone in the pouch. The idea is to have the phone handy, so it kind of defeats the cause.
For £8.99, this is a good stocking filler for the compact user who hasn't got a case, but would like one without it looking boring. It's a nice pouch to look at and will protect the camera sufficiently.
