The Canon S6300 is aimed at graphics business or creative offices and, according to Canon, is capable of up to 17 A4 pages per minute in mono and up to 12ppm A4 for colour documents, this printer is capable of handling heavy workloads.
The S6300's 2400x1200 dpi resolution means that up to 2.88 million dots of ink per square inch are fired onto the paper. It takes advantage of Canon's MicroFine Droplet Technology to deliver microscopic 5 picolitre ink droplets on to the paper. This allows the S6300 to deliver fine detail and, according to Canon, excellent tonal reproduction in all print modes, both on plain paper and special media.
Reduced total cost of ownership is achieved by Canon's low waste, cost effective Single Ink technology, which offers separate ink tanks for each colour. These individual ink reservoirs can be independently replaced when they are completely empty unlike printers that use combined colour cartridges where unused ink may be wasted when one colour runs out.
The S6300 uses Canon's High Colour and pigment black inks, which Canon say gives high optical density and a wider overall colour range. This means that documents have excellent rich black print and colour photos are extremely accurate and vibrant.
When used with Canon's Photo Paper Pro (now available in A3 and A3+ sizes in addition to A4 and 4x6in photo cards), the S6300 is ideal for creating archive quality prints and display materials that are comparable in quality to traditional silver halide prints and last just as long. Canon guarantees more than 25 years light fastness* (subject to storage or display conditions) for images printed on Photo Paper Pro using the S6300.
The Canon S6300 is fitted with USB and parallel interfaces. It supports the following operating systems Windows 95/Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, Windows XP as well as Mac OS, and can be shared across a variety of
It will be available from September for 379.
*In-house evaluation on Photo Paper Pro (PR-101):
Accelerated test conditions:
Light source: White fluorescent light 70,000lux
Conditions: Assume 1 days illumination as 500lux x 10 hours
Layer of air and 2mm - thick glass on the sample
In-house Evaluation criteria (Based on ISO):
Single colour/Composite colour: A colour change has occurred if the density is under 70%(OD:1.0->0.7)
Process Bk: The fading ratio between each colour is within 15%, and A colour change has occurred if the density is under
Precautions on storing printed images:
25 years of light-fastness may not be achieved depending on storage conditions. The expressed number of years is the result of simulated tests conducted by Canon Inc and is not guaranteed. This number of years does not allow for paper fading or durability. After
printing, allow the ink to dry completely. Store your images in albums, clear plastic folders, or glass frames in order to avoid exposing them to the open air. Never store printed images in locations subject to high temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight. Store them at normal room temperature. It is not advisable to use albums with self-adhesive pages for storing images as this may prevent them from being removed in the future.
