Digital Ixus 330

Canon's Ixus range is one of the most popular compact camera ranges. Adding two new models to the range will no doubt increase their popularity even further. The Digital Ixus 330 has a more stylish stainless steel and aluminium body and offers an increase of features over it's predecessor. The full press release from Canon is included below.

Press release
Canon, leaders in photographic and imaging technology, introduces a new and highly desirable pocket sized addition to their award winning Digital IXUS range. The Digital IXUS 330's stylish stainless steel and aluminium body satisfies the most ardent of style guru's whilst also encompassing a host of innovative technologies to ensure users achieve exceptional results.

"The IXUS range was created to highlight the importance of style, design and size alongside innovative technologies and the new Digital IXUS 330 achieves the perfect embodiment of style and advanced technology to satisfy all users." says Robert King, Marketing Manager, Canon (UK) Ltd.

The Digital IXUS 330 couples a 2.0M pixel CCD with a 3x, f2.7 optical zoom lens (35 - 105mm, 35mm equivalent) to ensure superb digital images time and time again. Other easy-to-use features include a manual focussing mode, which allows users to decide whether to select 3-point AiAF (Artificial Intelligence Auto Focus), or single point focussing, depending upon the subject. For optimal metering, spot or evaluative settings can be chosen and set to ensure that images are perfect, irrespective of the ambient lighting conditions, ISO speeds can also be manually adjusted.

For added enjoyment, users can also capture movie clips of up to 30 seconds with full sound and that can be played back instantly on the camera's LCD monitor and speaker. The camera can also be simply connected to a standard TV set so movies and photos can be shared amongst family and friends.

To maximise the users creativity, the Digital IXUS 330 features a photo effects mode which offers a choice of 5 pre-set effects: vivid colour, neutral colour, sepia, low sharpening and classic black and white. The Digital IXUS 330 also incorporates Canon's unique "intelligent orientation-sensor" which automatically detects and obtains optimum focus, exposure and white balance by sensing the camera's orientation and upper most edge of the image. The image is then automatically rotated after shooting, ready for viewing on the LCD monitor, or for downloading to a computer.

For added versatility, the Digital IXUS 330 is directly connectable to Canon's innovative Direct Print printers. Direct Print is the easiest way to instantly obtain high quality photo prints from a Canon digital camera. Simply connect the camera to the printer, select an image and in a few moments a perfect print is made. The new Card Photo Printer CP-100 is ideal for brilliant 10x15 cm photos making this a must have accessory. For larger photos the Canon Bubble Jet S820D can handle up to A4 size prints.

Canon supplies drivers with the DIGITAL IXUS 330 for Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows XP and Macintosh OS 8.6 - 9.2 and OS X v10.1. It also comes complete with a package of photo and video manipulation and printing software.

A full range of accessories are also available including a new 30-meter waterproof case, for use on the beach or the slopes whilst the AC Power supply kit and the new car battery charger provide power for any location.

The Digital IXUS 330 supports Exif 2.2 (Exif Print).
