Canon say people who value function but are not prepared to compromise on design will be immediately drawn to the CanoScan N1240U. The metallic finish and slim-line styling is outstanding and reflects the exceptional effort taken to produce this powerful product.
With 1200x2400dpi optical resolution from Canon's LIDE technology sensor, and 48-bit internal colour depth (24-bit output) scanned result show amazing colour reproduction and pin sharp focus, claim Canon.
The CanoScan N1240U has three user configurable EZ Buttons with an aim to make scanning easier. You insert the target media, press the appropriate 'EZ Button' and let advanced Canon technology do the rest. The CanoScan N1240U now makes it possible to scan, copy and e-mail images with a single press of the appropriate button.
Canon claim the CanoScan N1240U offers the smallest footprint of any A4 scanner on the market today. Surpassing accepted norms the CanoScan N1240U additionally offers vertical scanning. A detachable stand allows the scanner to be tilted through 90 degrees for a smaller footprint and easy 'upright scanning'.
Canon's Z-Lid makes scanning thicker items easier. The CanoScan N1240U's document cover automatically adjusts to fit the height of your books and magazines. The slim and stylish Z-lid is an unobtrusive yet integral element of the scanner.
Canon has developed a multi-photo scanning technology that speeds up the scanning operation. Simply drop up to ten target photographs under the Z-lid and press an 'EZ Button'. The software identifies all photos on the platen and scans each one automatically, rotating as necessary. Canon's latest innovation makes photo scanning quick and simple.
Two new image enhancement technologies are included with the CanoScan N1240U: The first, QARE (Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement), automatically removes dust & scratches on the scanned image ensuring the best results even from old photographs. The Second, automatically adjusts the scanners tone and gamma settings to get the optimum results from anything being scanned, whether photographs, illustrations or text.
USB Plug 'n' Play set up and installation means the CanoScan N1240U is easy to install and operate, with no need for an AC adapter you only need a single cable to link to your PC or USB equipped Macintosh computer.
The CanoScan N1240U will be available from September 2001 for around 149 and comes with a range of software for both PC and Mac including: Adobe PhotoShop Elements, a ScanGear CS-U driver, ScanGear Toolbox CS scanner control centre, ArcSoft PhotoStudio 2000 photo-editing suite and ArcSoft Photobase to store your images in a digital album. ScanSoft OmniPage OCR software completes the bundle.
