Canon PIXMA iP1800

Canon brings a refreshing sense of style to entry-level printing with the launch of the PIXMA iP1800 and PIXMA iP2500. Combining high print speeds with photo lab quality output, the printers’ distinctive cube design – finished in deep gleam black – is styled to catch the imagination of design-conscious consumers on a budget.
“The distinctive design of the iP1800 and iP2500 allows PIXMA’s entry-level models to stand apart from the competition,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Combining stylish design, media handling and print head technology, both new PIXMAs are perfect first home photo printers.”
The new PIXMA iP1800 and PIXMA iP2500 feature:

Designer home photo labs
Intuitive and easy-to-use, PIXMA makes home photo printing simple and
fun. The iP1800 and iP2500 are coloured in deep gleam black with a
reflective mirror finish; the iP2500 is offset by eye-catching sweeping
silver arc-lines. Stylish yet robust, the new models make great
additions to any household.
Outstanding photo lab quality at speed
Photo lab quality prints are ready in seconds. Employing Micro-Nozzles
to fire ink droplets as small as 2pl onto the page, the maximum
4800x1200dpi resolution FINE print head delivers superior quality
prints. Combining precision with speed, the iP1800 delivers a 10x15cm
(4”x6”) borderless photograph in just 70 seconds.
The new iP2500 produces a perfect photo print in just 55 seconds.
Impressive document print speeds are also achieved: 20/16 ppm
(mono/colour: iP1800) and 22/17 ppm (mono/colour: iP2500).
Both PIXMA entry-level models are supplied with a FINE colour cartridge and a separate black pigment ink cartridge. The combination ensures high quality printing for all types of output, including text and web documents, as well as photos. With the ChromaLife100 system, prints stored in an album last as long as 100 years.
Getting creative
In addition to Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint and Easy-LayoutPrint
software,4 the new PIXMA iP2500 is supplied with an exclusive creative
kit, comprising a CD-ROM and 30 sheets of Matte Photo Paper. The CD
contains a range of creative projects for users to explore.

Media
Canon’s competitive advantage in printer hardware technology
is fully realised when genuine Canon photo grade media and inks are
used. The diverse and growing range of Canon media is developed
specifically to work in combination with Canon’s FINE inkjet
print technology. Photo papers and media are available in a wide range
of formats (including mini stickers), finishes (from matte to
semi-gloss to super high gloss) and sizes: from credit card,
4”x6” and 5”x7”. Wide size
(4”x7.1”) to 8”x10” and A4.
Glossy Photo Paper “Everyday Use” (GP-501) is ideal
as an affordable way of sharing digital photographs. The flagship Photo
Paper Pro (PR-101) offers the highest grade professional results with
ultimate durability. A double-sided photo paper (PP-101D
5”x7” and PP-101D A4) is also available together
with a high quality Photo Album Kit (PAK-101).
Technologies Explained
FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering)
Canon's patented FINE semi-conductor manufacturing technique creates
extraordinary print speeds for both photo and document printing by
producing exceptionally long print heads with high nozzle count and
density. These get more ink on the page in less time than is possible
with traditional inkjet technology, delivering fast borderless photo
prints.
FINE also achieves virtually grain free photo lab quality by delivering millions of microscopic droplets at a minimum size of 2pl each second with extremely high consistency and accuracy from approximately 10m diameter Micro-Nozzles.
ChromaLife100
For improved fade resistance, PIXMA supports Canon’s
ChromaLife100: a system of genuine Canon dye-based inks, which deliver
exceptionally broad colour gamut, and specialised photo paper designed
to work together with FINE print heads. This
technology triangle of nozzle design, ink and media produces
prints that rival silver halide quality and longevity. Prints resist
fading for 100 years when album-stored, 30 years when displayed under
glass and 10 years when exposed to the effects of the air.
