  • Zoom: 4x optical, 4x digital
  • Processor: DIGIC II
  • Focusing: 5-point AiAF

  • Macro: Yes, 1cm Super Macro mode
  • Monitor: 2.0in LCD screen

A budget model available in different colours to set yourself apart from your friends. The 5Mp resolution will easily print to 8x10 and the 1cm super macro mode will allow the camera to focus a lot closer for small or highly detailed subjects.

The inclusion of a proper viewfinder means that the screen can be switched off to save power and the AA battery compatibility keeps the camera going because fresh batteries can be bought anywhere.

The camera is not waterproof and can suffer from sand invasion, so be careful when going to the beach. The camera does have a Beach mode to help with your holidays, though.

Suitable for: Macro, Zooming in, Kids & Pets, Holidays

What the other sites are saying:
Cameras.co.uk
“The strong points include the natural colours and small amount of extra zoom on an entry level digital camera.”
Pocket-lint It may not be the prettiest camera out there and it may not be the fastest, but it takes nice pictures, is easy to use, and is worth every penny at that price.”
What Digital Camera “In use, there’s not much to complain about, especially given the ‘entry level’ price tag.”
Uk Digital Camera Reviews “The Canon PowerShot A460 produces quality, precise pictures that are suitable for enlarging without any loss of detail.”

The reason I'm going through the reviews is because I want replacements for both my daughters' cameras. The first, a Powershot A410, developed the dreaded lens problem just out of warranty. The second, a Powershot A430, (bought before the A410 failed) developed the dreaded lens problem....Need I go on? If this has the same lens mechanism then I would be wary. I managed to repair the A430 myself but don't know how long it will last.
