The Canon Powershot SX50 IS features the World's longest zoom in a compact camera with a 50x optical zoom lens - zooming from 24mm all the way to a 1200mm equivalent, as you can see below:
It also has two side buttons to help you zoom in and out quickly to recompose your shots if needed, for example if you lose the subject. We had a brief look at the camera at Photokina and look forward to testing the product fully when it becomes available.

I'm intrigued. On the face of it this is a pretty dreaful idea compared to the Panasoniic FZ200 with its constant F2.8 and (much) shorter zoom range, but I wonder...
