While putting in place a colour management system can be a challenge, here are the benefits of using one in a creative environment.

Workflow

Benefit 1 - The Whole Creative Process Is Smooth

From start to finish communication is smooth and a unified image is seen / used throughout. This means that the photographer, then the retoucher, design company, plate maker then finally the print company will all see the same thing.

Benefit 2 - This Saves Time And Money

Images go through various proofing stages and if at any point the colours don't match between two monitors or the image looks different when printed to what it does on screen it'll cause no-end of problems. Questions will be asked, reprints cost money and carrying out multiple proofs wastes time. All of these can, however, be prevented through good colour management.

Benefit 3 - Less Stress And Worry

With a colour management system in place you'll have peace of mind that you (and your team) are using accurate displays and that proofs as well as the final product will look as intended.

We'll be looking at key points of the colour management process in an up-coming article.
