Approximately 30 Italian camera dealers and photographers had an opportunity to experience the new Contax N Digital camera at Carl Zeiss on April 26 and 27, 2002.
The Camera Lens Division of Carl Zeiss issued an invitation to attend a 2-day workshop in Oberkochen where 5 fully functioning samples of the Contax N Digital camera were tested for the very first time in the world.
In addition to a comprehensive tour of the Carl Zeiss plant, technical and scientific lectures on lens and camera technology and visits to the Carl Zeiss Innovation Center and the Optical Museum, the focus of the event was, of course, the hands-on workshop where Contax N Digital cameras and lenses from Carl Zeiss were provided for practical tests. Also provided for the very first time were the new 17-35 mm Vario-Sonnar T* f/2.8 lens and, in addition to the Contax N Digital camera, several Contax 645 medium-format cameras with the first samples of the new 45-90 mm Vario-Sonnar T* f/4.5 zoom lens.
Equipped with 5 Contax N digital cameras and the full line of lenses currently available, the participants had an opportunity to test the cameras and lenses in great detail.
The cameras and the lenses had to demonstrate their capabilities both in the studio at Carl Zeiss and outdoors during a tour of the scenic medieval town of Rothenburg.
It was the unanimous opinion of all participants that the Contax N Digital passed this test with flying colors despite adverse weather conditions in Rothenburg. What particularly impressed the users was the superb image quality and the fascinating photos taken with the Contax N Digital during the workshop.
