Press Release: Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2

The long summer days with bright colours and beautiful sunsets are behind us for another year and most of us are tempted to put away our camera, together with our beach towels, until the first glimpses of spring sunshine next year. With the help of Corel’s latest digital imaging software – Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 – this need not be the case. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 has introduced great new features that can help overcome the most difficult challenges of winter photography, such as poor lighting and foggy conditions, making your pictures as breathtaking as at any other time of the year.

How to handle poor lighting and underexposure:
Early morning photos against the snow supply the best light to show textures, vivid colours, frost, etc. No flash is required.

In the evening, moonlight combined with snow makes for a romantic setting and will allow you to experience nature’s reflectors in action.

If you're not an early bird, don’t be afraid to use your flash during the day, especially if people are the subjects of your photos. Doing this will help avoid shadows and underexposed images.

In winter, even the best photographers might find that their shots appear disappointingly dull and gloomy. If you forget to switch your flash on and part of the photo is too dark or underexposed, try using Fill Flash to quickly adjust a photo’s underexposed areas.

You may also want to apply a comprehensive set of adjustments to the whole photo by choosing Smart Photo Fixfrom Adjust in the Learning Centre.

For more in-depth commands for correcting brightness and contrast, try the Levels and Curves commands.

How to deal with foggy photographs:
If the day was slightly foggy, you can use the Clarify tool to improve a poorly exposed image. This can be found under Adjust, Brightness and Contrast Levels and can be used to improve overall clarity of a foggy or hazy image.

How to add a tan / thinify yourself:
Winter is not only a time when natural conditions can be tricky and unfavourable, it is also a time when we don’t look as good as we do during the summer. Most of us wish we could get rid of that extra winter weight and pale faces reflected in the pictures taken at our Christmas party, but don’t want to reach for the fake tan. Use Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2’s new Makeover tools, such as the new Thinify tool and the popular Suntan brush, to make unflattering winter pictures a thing of the past.
