With internal dimensions designed to fit a 17in Macbook Pro snugly, this case also has enough room to accommodate other large notebook computers. Just be sure to check the dimensions carefully before shelling out. There are also 13in and 15in versions available, for more portable laptops. As is always the case with laptop sleeves, there is nowhere to store your mains adapter when travelling. That would have to be stowed away in a separate bag.

The tough 'Holy Cow' leather exterior has a great quality feel to it, and it doesn't mark easily with heavy use. The internal waterproof lining, coupled with a soft leather barrier on the inside of the zip should provide piece of mind in inclement conditions, although I wouldn't say this case is waterproof. It should however provide enough protection to fend of the odd light shower.

Design-wise, the bright red colour with white vertical flash is distinctly Crumpler. Fans of the company's design ethos will appreciate the slightly quirky design while any extroverts amongst us will love the screaming-loud colour scheme. Others who would prefer to remain understated may wish to take a look at the Black/Grey or Brown/Orange versions.

Crumpler's Holy Cow leather really is as tough as old boots, (without the smell) and will provide ample protection for those on the move. I only had a 12in laptop to hand when reviewing this item, but even though my computer was buried by the case, it still felt well-protected. The over-sized zip around the top is of high quality, and did not snag once during the test.

Those who have the funds to splash out on such a case will not be disappointed. The lofty price tag is justified by the use of very high quality materials and design. In fact I'd say the cost is really quite reasonable for what you get.

Although a cheaper neoprene sleeve will probably offer almost as much protection, this case is aimed towards those who want something a bit special, and in that respect, The Le Grand Royale delivers.
