Specification

The C-Loop is a strap mounting attachment that screws to your camera's tripod socket to provide strap mounting slots at the base of the camera rather than its usual top-plate eyelets.

C-Loop

Custom SLR C-Loop Features

The C-Loop is an aluminium post that screws to the base of the camera using the built in flip out key to tighten. It has a rubber washer that grips firmly to the base and once in place can rotate 360 degrees.

It has a 12mm strap eyelet that's wide enough for most common strap systems.

The advantage is a strap can be attached that won't get in the way of your hands, face or lens as you use the camera or when you switch from horizontal to vertical format.

It's also designed to be used with Custom SLR's M-Plate.

Custom SLR C-Loop Handling & Performance

The slot is wide enough to push the strap through with ease. I used it with Custom SLR's own Split Strap but it will also work with straps from the likes of Black Rapid and Optech or even your existing camera manufacturer's strap.

Once in place it allows you to shoot in horizontal or vertical position without the strap getting in the way and it does this well.

From resting to action, the strap doesn't get in the way thanks to the C-Loop, and when used with Custom SLR's M-Plate you can go from carrying to tripod mounting without having to remove the strap. But that does make the system expensive as the M-Plate is an extra £60 on top of the £35 C-Loop - and you need a strap!

Value For Money

£35 plus the cost of a strap (£25) brings this into the same price bracket as the popular Black Rapid system, but this has an advantage that if you buy the M-Plate you can attach the strap and then switch between strap and tripod without having to release the strap.

Custom SLR C-Loop Verdict

As well as Black Rapid, several similar systems exist from the likes of Luma Labs, Opteka and Ecell but the C-Loop appears to be the most substantial, and when combined with the M-Plate is the most versatile. If cost isn't an issue, buying this C-Loop with Custom SLR's Split Strap will be a comfortable and practical combination.
