According to the Telegraph, thousands of pounds of taxpayers money has been used to buy digital cameras, photo frames and photo editing software.

Among the MPs billing taxpayers for digital cameras is Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith. According to the Telegraph, she claimed £1600 for three digital cameras and a camcorder over three years, for which her spokesperson said was for “constituents needs”. Harriet Harman also said the £230 she spent on a Canon Ixus digital camera was also used for constituency work.

David Mundell claimed over £3000 on his expenses to take photographs of himself and in May 2006 he spent £528 on two Olympus cameras. Last year he also bought a copy of Adobe Photoshop for £468.

Julie Kirkbride bought two digital cameras, one of which cost £220 and a printer. She also defends claims for two publicity photo shoots, of which she spent over £1000 on.

£225 was spent by Yvette Cooper on a digital camera and Geoff Hoon purchased expensive gadgets, which include a claim for a £200 digital camera back in September 2006.

According to the Telegraph, Mike Gapes spent less on photography related products than his fellow MPs with a £30.98 for photograph frames.

Michael Gove, Patrick McLoughlin, James Purnell, Douglas Alexander, Paul Murphy, Derek Conway and Hazel Blears also claimed for digital cameras on their expenses.
