Digital SLR Photography - now available - ePHOTOzine told you first about the new launch from Daniel Lezano's new publishing company Halo Publishing here back on the 19th of October. The magazine is now available and we had a chance to see it first late last week.

Digital SLR Photography magazine is now in the shops and features several ePHOTOzine members including Annaliese, Mattw, Urbanite and Tom_231268

Yes, it's another magazine in a crowded market aiming at the same photographic audience, but what this aims to do that others doesn't is be fully dedicated to the SLR user. Dan has a good background having worked on Canon EOS magazine in its early days, then Practical Photography and, until recently, launched and edited Photography Monthly.

The magazine is designed by Luke Marsh - one of the best in the industry. You'll find some lovely graphic treatments and stylish use of fonts, a colourful and stylish package.

The mag has a wide range of articles from basic to advanced and features some fabulous photographers offering sound advice including celeb photographer Alan Strutt and portrait photographer Bjorn Thomassen.

Although Dan is a personal friend of ePHOTOzine's editor Pete Bargh we are in no way biased. When Pete saw the first issue of Dan's last creation Photography Monthly he wasn't too impressed, yet here he's gob smacked by the design and feature list. Pete explains: "I've been following the last few stages of this magazine's conception with interest. I always remember Dan saying you won't have seen anything like this when he announced Photography Monthly over five years ago, and I was disappointed with the hype, but here I was very impressed. Digital SLR Photography fills a gap in the market. It's wonderfully designed, has a wide variety of features, taking afresh lick of paint to some regulars and adding a few new ideas to the mix. If you only intend buying one magazine this month give this one a try - I think you will be pleasantly surprised "

Dan and his team will be casting their eyes over the gallery section of ePHOTOzine in the coming months looking for photos for future issues so if you get a PM or email from Jo or Dan it's real and your chance to get your pics in print.

"Although Dan is a personal friend of ePHOTOzine's editor Pete Bargh we are in no way biased."

In which case, why then has there not been a news item / review of the other two recently launched Digital Photographic magazines ?

I'm not biased in my view but I will support the guy if I think his product is worthwhile! I rarely mention magazines in the news but I have done when I find something of interest.

Can't find it here in Leighton Buzzard, but then that maybe isn't surprising!
Hope to find it in MK later this week.

I bought it Saturday, quite impressed with it, but there are a few typo errors and the Canon lens tests 70-300mm are mixed up.
Much better than the other recently launched mag!!!

Great design to the magazine - one gripe though (before I say any more, considering all the gripes a brand new magazine COULD have, one is a miracle!) the cover statement that the Olympus E400 is tested - a group test - it is a VERY limited test of such a significant camera to the market. AP will have more next week - I'll put DSLRP's 'stretching of reality' down to trying to make a splash :o)

If anyone has not seen this magazine then it's very well put together... I wish Dan every sucess because if issue 1 is the shape of things to come, it can only be a good thing. (Also, Dan's a very nice chap!)

Best regards

Your Dad (joking! :o)

Fully dedicated to the SLR user-an article on stylich fonts! can we really do them in camera? Just another photographic magazine on the shelf. I shall continue to view them all each month and buy the one that looks most interesting.

Well I made a bit of an error. I was trying to find this in WHSmiths and came across a magazine which I thought was this.

Digital SLR User. What a load of rubbish that mag turned out to be - and a total waste of 3.60. I havent been able to find Digital SLR Photography on the shelves as yet but I wont make that mistake again!
