Aimed at those who have a clear idea of the product they want to sell, whether it be a bespoke framing service or the marketing of specific frames art works, the business development course from DIY Framing is made up of several individual days all held at the weekend so there's no need to take a day off work.
Days can be booked individually or as a whole package which comprises the following days:
Basics of Framing (28th June)
This is an introduction to the basic principles of framing.
Mount Cutting and Decoration (29th June)
By the end of the day you will have gained a very good, all round knowledge of how to cut mounts of all types and configurations.
Business Development Day 1 (5th July)
The first of two business development days aimed at those wishing to explore the possibilities of starting a new framing business venture.
3D Framing (6th July)
An exploration of why and how people choose to display objects, artefacts and collectibles, as well as learning one method for making a box (3D) frame.
Conservation Framing (12th July)
An exploration of the general principles behind conservation framing. Those principles are then used to guide you in the presentation and framing of some artwork you have brought in.
Framing Fabrics (13th July)
The workshop falls into two main sections. The first part involves looking at the special requirements for framing fabrics and, especially, the methods of preparing work for framing. While exploring a wide range of possible solutions we focus on four basic methods for working with many pieces of fabric based artwork. This leads in to the second part of the day, where students use the knowledge gained in the first part to plan and carry out their own framing project. The results are always outstanding.
Business Development Day 2 (19th July)
This is the second part of the Business Development Day aimed at those looking at starting a new business venture.
No prior framing experience is necessary as the course is suitable for beginners. Each course will be held at the following location:
