The Naked Truth
'The Naked Truth' by DeLone

ePHOTOzine member DeLone is this week's Photo of the Week (POTW) winner.

The POTW is picked by ePHOTOzine's founder and Editorial Director, Peter Bargh, once a week and here's why he thought DeLone's shot, 'The Naked Truth' was a worthy winner:

"This guy turns up in many of Delone's portraits and that's because it's himself! This photographer's portraits of himself and family are always outstanding with subtle twists and character references. Here he appears to be portraying a classic American pose struck by the likes of Clint Eastwood or Humphrey Bogart.

Square framing eludes to the medium format crop of yesteryear while the subtle hue on top of an already beautiful rich tonal range gives an edgy feel that was also delivered by the old Rolleicord pros of a time gone by.

The sharpness is outstanding allowing the detailed textures on the skin to provide a gritty realism while smoke is recorded in slow motion to swirl its way up the side of his face. A single direct front light positioned above reflects in the eyes to add a glint. And lights to the side help the facial contours lift to become almost three dimensional. Wonderful execution."

POTW winners currently receive a £100 voucher from Albelli. Take a look at the Photo of the Week Gallery where all shots that have received the award are displayed.
