April saw Spicer Hallfield make some members of staff redundant. Now, one month on, some former employees are dipping their toes into the big photographic pond.

According to reports, former factory manager Martin Abraham has set up MTA, a company which like Spicer Hallfield creates photography albums. He's also employed eight of his old colleagues from the old firm.

Others have started a cleaning business and one former employee hopes to turn his photography business into something more profitable.

I wish the ex employees all the very best in what must be a very challenging commercial environment; if they succeed within a recession they will do very well.

Well done Martin and his team.

The product suite is world-class so with effective management they have very chance of succeeding.
