Press Release:
One fearless explorer will have her head in the clouds today. When most Brits will be thinking about jetting off for the Easter break, twenty seven year-old Anya, a TV production co-ordinator, will be departing the UK on the 19th April to visit 25 worldwide destinations. She was chosen from over 3,000 hopefuls to undertake possibly the best job in the world on behalf of the UKs leading online travel agent, Expedia.co.uk.

Travelling the equivalent of more than twice round the equator, Anya will be assessing the bright blue sky of Brazil, the cloud formations in Cambodia and the light intensity at Long Beach, California in her 64,000 mile search. Working with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) the UKs national standards laboratory to ensure her data is measured correctly, Anya will be tirelessly testing every element of the worlds skylines including:
  • The Colour identifying the exact blue hue of each sky
  • The Light the amount of light omitted from the sky
  • The Mood how each blue sky makes visiting holiday-makers feel
Along the way, Anya will be recording her findings and taking pictures of each sky-scape, uploading regular updates of her travels on www.let-yourself-go.co.uk. On her return to the UK, Anya and Expedia.co.uk will reveal which destination deserves the coveted title of Worlds Best Blue Sky this summer.

We provide inspirational ideas to encourage people to let themselves go and search to find their best holiday said Elyas Chowdhury, Marketing Director, Expedia.co.uk. So with this in mind, we took on the task of determining, objectively and definitively, which truly is the best blue sky in the world. Its a tough job but somebody has to do it. Unfortunately we cant all go so well have to let Anya do it for us.

Anya Hohnbaum, Expedias Blue Sky Explorer said, Im really looking forward to visiting every one of the destinations on my mission to find the Worlds Best Blue Sky for Expedia. To go to all of these places is a once in a lifetime opportunity and Im so excited.

I hope Ill be able to practice my languages while Im away and visit destinations that Ive only dreamt of visiting, like Cambodia and Alaska. Rest assured though, Ill be working tirelessly on behalf of Expedia and on my hope to be a blue sky expert on my return!
