Press Release:Canon EOS 300X SLR

The first ever ePHOTOzine junior competition, sponsored by Firstcall Photographic, has been launched today, aimed at all young photographers under the age of 18.

There are two categories to the competition, one for under 16s and another for ages 16-18. The theme of the competition is simply landscapes - the theme can be interpreted however you wish, so what are you waiting for - get snapping! Now, to the prizes.

Under 16s
For the under 16 category, the winner gets a Canon EOS 3000V SLR with a 28-90mm lens worth £125. With its compact design and ergonomic styling, the EOS 3000V can easily be used one-handed. Controls are positioned exactly where they should be. Menu navigation is easy thanks to a large LCD.

The camera has AF point linked 35-zone metering so that it accurately works out the right exposure. The wide AF area with 7 auto-focus points perfectly captures your subject even when it is off centre (set automatically or manually). The auto focusing is exceptionally fast and creates sharp pictures even when the subject is moving.

On top of the EOS 3000V is a built-in, red-eye reduction E-TTL flash unit, which can pop-up automatically. 12 shooting modes are available, with AF mode set automatically to match the shooting mode. Continuous shooting is possible at approximately 1.5 frames per second.

16-18s
For 16-18 year olds the prize is a Canon EOS 300X SLR with a 28-90mm lens worth a handsome £210. Responsive, nimble and dynamic, the EOS 300X turns with you at every shift to your creative trajectory. Check out these features:

  • Fast auto focus
  • Up to 3fps continuous shooting
  • 1/4000sec shutter speed
  • 35-zone metering
  • Wide-area 7-point AF
  • Ergonomic one-hand operation
  • E-TTL II auto-flash metering
  • 6 custom functions
  • 12 shooting modes
  • Large illuminated LCD
  • Compact and lightweight

So get entering! The competition opens today and closes at midnight on 30th Nov 2007. Don't forget to tell any under 18's you know about the competition.
