Press Release: Fotolia V2

This new version offers users both performance and feature enhancement, as well as two new features: a public API and the ability to distribute vector files.

“Our improvements have been designed around a combination of user feedback and the team’s vision for Fotolia’s continued expansion,” explains Oleg Tscheltzoff, co-founder and president of Fotolia. “We’ve implemented changes to the site based on feedback from some of the country’s top media buyers and from our community of photographers to ensure the best user experience across the board.”

Performance: Speed, Stability and Search enhancement
Fotolia’s numbers have increased dramatically in the past year. Millions of users visit Fotolia each month and tens of thousands of images are uploaded and downloaded each day. Due to this exponential usage growth, Fotolia’s first priority in designing V2 was to maintain first-rate performance for the site. The team used the latest technologies to completely redesign site structure, boosting stability, speed and enhancing user experience. In addition to technical improvements, the new version is prepared for continued international expansion with respect to global standards and implementation of new language functionalities.

Fotolia Service : API
Since its inception, Fotolia has focused on partnership, making us the stock photography preference for many partners around the globe. With V2, a new threshold has been crossed, making Fotolia even more connectable and open to the outside world. Fotolia has launched a public API (Application Programming Interface) to make it possible for partners to integrate Fotolia in their applications or products. Dozens of partners (printers, portals and blog platforms) have already integrated the Fotolia API in their services. Additionally, the API will help developers build applications to improve user experience in the form of plug-ins, add-ons and widgets.

New files : Fotolia Accepts Vectors
In addition to the API, Fotolia is pleased to announce the ability to handle new graphic formats, vectors, to fit new industry and creative needs. The first of these formats to be introduced is the vector, making it possible to buy and sell SVG vectors on Fotolia. This new format (an open standard for vectors), is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to be resized on any scale without quality loss, and will meet our increased demand from the mobile and Web industries. Other creative content formats will soon be accepted.
