Incorporating Fujifilm's latest Super CCD sensor with improved LSI signal processing, the new FinePix 6900 combines the advanced SLR-style photographic features and controls demanded by serious photo enthusiasts with an output resolution of 6 million pixels from a new generation 3.3 megapixel Super CCD sensor.

Based on the FinePix 4900 Zoom, the FinePix 6900 Zoom boasts an even higher resolution, better colour reproduction and improved sensitivity - and firmly reinforces Fujifilm's commitment to the enthusiast market, as the company's UK Digital Imaging Marketing Manager, Michelle da Gama, explains:

'The new FinePix 6900 Zoom blends many of the features of traditional SLR cameras, with extremely high resolution digital output, to give the serious photographer the best of both worlds. It offers levels of quality and functionality only normally found in high-end professional digital cameras, yet at a fraction of the cost.'

Further adding to the appeal of the ergonomically designed camera is a striking new magnesium alloy, graphite-black body. The option of a 1.5x telephoto conversion lens which, when used with the fast F2.8 Super EBC Fujinon 6x optical zoom lens, brings the action even closer.

Because it has been designed specifically for the serious photo enthusiast and business user, the FinePix 6900 Zoom has multi-mode TTL automatic exposure with full manual overrides, a flash hotshoe connection, and a manual focus ring. There is also versatility in the way images and technical information can be displayed on the camera. There's a choice between using the bright 2 inch low-temperature polysilicon TFT monitor on the back of the camera body, or the miniature through-the-lens electronic viewfinder, which is especially useful for viewing images and data in bright light conditions. In addition to capturing superb high-resolution stills, further creative options are afforded by the movie recording and playback capabilities of the FinePix 6900 Zoom, allowing it to capture video up to 160-second burst of action at 10 frames per second in AVI Motion JPEG format.

At the heart of the new camera is the next generation high performance 3.3 megapixel Super CCD sensor, which because of its unique octagonal-shaped photodiodes can generate image output file sizes up to a staggering 2832 x 2128 pixels (6 million pixels). Enhanced latitude offered by the newly-developed Super CCD sensor also means it displays even greater sensitivity, further improving the reproduction of pure highlights, low noise and the delicate skin tones thatFujifilm digital cameras have become so well known for.

In use, the carefully sculpted shape of the camera body ensures the FinePix 6900 Zoom feels as familiar to ostruction as its predecessor, but is the first FinePix digital camera to come in stylish graphite black, making it especially pleasing to the eye of the traditional SLR user.

The fast, professional-quality F2.8 Super EBC (Electron Beam Coating) Fujinon 6x zoom lens is equivalent to 35 mm to 210 mm on a 35mm camera. This is given added flexibility with the addition of the new telephoto converter lens (giving a maximum equivalent focal length of 315 mm), which joins the 0.79x wide-angle converter in the range of optional accessories designed to expand the creative options.

It is anticipated that the Fujifilm FinePix 6900 Zoom will be available in June and will retail for around 799.
