Gadget ShowPress Release:

North One Television, Five and Upper Street Events have joined forces to launch The Gadget Show Live.  Taking place at the NEC Birmingham from 17 – 19 April 2009, it’s set to be the UK’s largest and most dynamic consumer electronics event, providing the perfect consumer launch venue for new technology.

The event will see a whole host of exhibitors promoting the latest in camera technology and photography, with leading manufacturers such as Kodak, Canon (UK) and retail stores such as Camera World joining a raft of computing, gaming, mobile communications, home entertainment and in-car technology names already booked to exhibit.

Based on Five’s primetime technology programme, The Gadget Show Live is aimed at an audience of affluent men and women who are keen to see, try and buy the latest must have technology.  With over 30,000 visitors expected, the event brings together the most popular elements of the Gadget Show TV programme to create a high energy, live experience.

The show will also include a range of interactive and informative features. The Gadget Show Super Theatre, with capacity for over 1000 visitors, brings to life editorial features from the TV show within hourly presentations and challenges hosted by presenters; Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry, Jon Bentley and Dallas Campbell.

The Game Zone features new launch and classic games and gives novices the chance to compete for prizes as well as hosting showdowns between top international competitors.  The Geek Squad Clinic offers one-to-one advice on any technical issue visitors may have, whilst the How to Theatre provides advice from independent experts on how to get the best from popular gadgets and technology.  In Car gives visitors access to a range of customised vehicles fitted out with the latest in in-car kit.  Other features planned for the inaugural event include The Gadget Hall of Fame, a Future Homes Feature and the Gadget Test Track.

With 65% of floor space already sold, exhibitors also include: Canon (UK), TomTom, Sony; LG UK; Garmin; ASUS; Sennheiser; Armour; Epson; Geek Squad, Sanyo; Plantronics and Belkin.

The Show is supported with an integrated marketing campaign, with terrestrial TV ads forming the centrepiece, attracting affluent consumers with a passion for the very latest in technology.

Jon Bentley, presenter of The Gadget Show, comments: "The Gadget Show Live builds on the excitement of the TV programme and develops it into a creative, dynamic and fun-fuelled event. Packed with cutting edge exhibitors and a raft of innovative, interactive features, it's an unrivalled opportunity for our viewers, and anyone else with an interest in gadgetry, to have hands-on access to the very latest technology on the market, all in one place."

Matt Hodgins, Event Director Upper Street Events, adds:  “The UK has the largest electrical goods market in Europe with an estimated worth of over £12 billion per year.  We’re looking forward to hosting an experience led event that offers a consumer showcase for the very best the industry has to offer.
