Gitzo 6X carbon fibre tripod range announced - New range of tripods to replace smaller sized Mountaineer models.

Carbon fibre was then replaced with magnesium alloy and more recently basalt, and the reintroduction of a carbon fibre range now redefines what is possible.
After a long development process, Gitzo have produced a new tube that performs just as well as previous models, as well as being 30 per-cent lighter. The new generation tubes have a wall thickness of just 1mm, compared with the 1.5mm thickness of the older models.
The 6X name refers to the six layers of carbon fibre double the amount as before which results in tripods which are both super light and rigid.
The range also includes other innovative features, such as anti-rotation legs which makes erection of the tripod much quicker and easier. A new retractable weight hook is also featured, something which was also previously incorporated on the Basalt range.
The Gitzo 6X range will replace the 0, 1 and 2 Mountaineer tripods, retailing at similar prices and should become available during October. For more information please contact Hasselblad (UK) Ltd on 020 8731 3250 or e-mail gitzo@hasselblad.co.uk.
