GoldenPic iOS App Performance

When you open the app you are straight away given information about your current location for the current day. You can save locations for easier access in the future. There are sunrise and sunset times with info for golden and blue hours. You can also find out when the moon will rise and set, as well as its phase. The last area is for weather, but this is currently not working although the developers say they are working to fix this as soon as possible.

On the main screen you'll also see an email symbol, hit this to send the info to yourself or other contacts. Within the settings you can change the background from a number of options, as well as change to Celsius temperature and 24 hour time.

Within the location menu you can select your current location, search by map, search by address, enter longitude and latitude or view saved locations. Searching by map is easy, you simply pinch zoom to get the required location in the centre, when a marker is placed. The search by location option doesn't work as it should. It gives an example of Grand Canyon, but it fails to find it when searching. We tried a few landmarks which it failed to find, but was fine with postcode and town names.

GoldenPic iOS App Verdict

The GoldenPic app is handy if you want to know when sunrise and sunsets are going to happen in any location in the world on any date. It requires a phone of Wi-Fi signal to download to data and it is quite quick. At £2.49 it's a little steep for an app, especially while the weather feature doesn't work. But once the developers have ironed out a couple of bugs, the app is very useful and ideal if you just need basic info without purchasing the more expensive Photographer's Ephemeris app at £5.99.

Daniel, Can you try the landmark search again and email us at GoldenPic@jebsapps.com

I'm testing the landmark search (here in the U.S) and it's working just fine. Maybe the service we call was temporarily down when you tried it?

As for the weather, we're very sorry about this. The API we were calling to acquire the weather has shut down and we're in the process of using a different service as well and redesigning the app.

Thanks a lot for the review!
