Direct positive experience at Photokina - Harman technology’s special paper developed for the unique 1:1 walk-in IMAGO camera will be showcased at Photokina 2010.
Harman technology Limited, the manufacturer of Ilford monochrome traditional photographic products, and IMAGO 1:1, the company behind the world’s largest working camera that produces 1:1 portraits will showcase their new black and white photographic paper – Harman Direct Positive Paper – in both RC and FB formats at Photokina this month.
Harman Direct PositivePAPER was engineered by Ilford in collaboration with Susanna Kraus, owner of the IMAGO 1:1 camera and daughter of one of its inventors.
Susanna commented “We are very proud to welcome Harman onto the stand, as their Direct Positive paper is a core ingredient for the immersive IMAGO experience. This new paper has provided quality beyond our most ambitious expectations.”
Harman technology has made Harman Direct Positive Paper available in both RC and Baryta bases, and in a variety of formats for a myriad of different photographic and artistic applications. Ideal for use in pinhole cameras, which are often used in education to demonstrate the photographic process, Harman Direct PositivePAPER will produce a unique positive image without the use of a film negative whereas standard photographic paper would create a negative image.
At Photokina 2010 visitors will be able to experiment with this new silver halide paper and see its results immediately by testing it on the stand with various cameras such as pinhole, medium and large format cameras. These visitor experiments will be displayed on the outer walls of the purpose-built darkroom throughout the duration of the fair. Parts of the original IMAGO 1:1 camera will also be on display along with life size photographs taken with the camera.
The darkroom activities will be organised by the group “ANALOGGANG” based around photographer and lecturer Annegret Kohlmayer. Susanna Kraus and representatives of Harman technology will be on the stand to meet visitors and answer questions.
Steven Brierley, Marketing Director at Harman technology commented: “We are very much looking forward to demonstrating Direct Positive paper at Photokina. Harman Direct Positiveis the only real photographic positive paper in production anywhere in the world, representing a new stage in the development of one of the oldest forms of photography.”
Harman technology and IMAGO 1:1 are exhibiting at Stand C030, Hall 6. For more information please visit the Harman Express website.
