Hewlett-Packard announce the first home pc with an in-built DVD+RW -
The multimedia hp pavilion 7975 PC allows
you to become a film director from home in just three easy steps:
1. Download raw video footage (analogue or digital) to your pc
2. Edit the footage using the software provided
3. Burn
to a DVD disc
The in-built DVD+RW drive in the hp pavilion 7975 incorporates the latest and most versatile DVD technology. It is the only rewritable format designed from the outset to be highly compatible across PCs and home entertainments systems. DVD+RW is simple to use and is the first DVD format that allows you to edit any frame of your movie without having to play it right through.
Once youve finished editing your movie, you can choose to play it back via your PC or television screen through the TV-out port on the hp pavilion 7975.
Designed for the home
Hp have designed the pc to fit
well into a home environment. An ergonomic keyboard with one-touch Internet
access and volume control buttons make it simple to use. In order to minimise
untidy wires, the USB ports are positioned on the front of the tower and
keyboard, making it easy to plug in accessories such as digital cameras.

DVD+RW explained
HP, MCC/Verbatim, Philips, Ricoh,
Sony and Yamaha -- the developers, promoters and leaders in the CD-R and CD-RW
technology -- are developing the next generation of optical storage technology
with the DVD+RW format. The universally compatible, rewritable DVD format
enables true convergence between personal computing and consumer electronics
products. DVD+RW discs written on a DVD+RW recorder can be read and played by
the vast majority of existing and future DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. Dell
and Thompson Multimedia (manufacturer of RCA entertainment products) recently
joined the companies to actively support and promote DVD+RW. More than 25
additional companies have formally pledged to support DVD+R and DVD+RW
technology.
