HP believe the majority of home users will use the drive in conjunction
with their PC to watch DVD feature films. Many will also use it to edit
home movies that have been recorded on a digital or analogue camera.

Basing the drive on DVD+RW technology will provide HP customers with major benefits. DVD+RW is the only rewriteable DVD format designed to allow users to quickly and effectively edit random scenes in their home movies. If using other rewriteable DVD formats, users will have to work sequentially when editing data. In addition, DVD+RW technology is the only format to incorporate a defect management system. This is designed to manage any defect on the surface of a DVD disk, and prevent recorded data becoming unreadable.

'With higher quality, greater flexibility and support from most of the major players in the industry, hp believes that consumers will willingly adopt DVD+RW as the favoured format,' says Charlie Ball, UK product manager for HP storage.
