HP are introducing five new flatbed scanners from 99. Each one features HP's exclusive dual sensor CCD scanning technology, previously only available in their professional HP ScanJet 7400c series. HP say they are ideal for home or small office users wanting professional results, HP's Scanjet 4400c, 4470c and 5400c, 5470c, 5490c combine high quality images at the fastest speeds, delivering preview scans in four seconds and full-image scans in as little as eight seconds.
The five models include a one-touch 'scan-to-CD' feature, which enables scanned images to be quickly saved onto CDs, making it easy to archive documents and pictures and create personalised photo albums. This is a benefit for customers who own a CD-writer, or are planning to buy one soon.

In addition to the 'scan-to-CD' button, each model incorporates several of HP's simple one-touch buttons such as:

  • Scan: launches software and begins scanning.
  • E-mail: scan directly to e-mail.
  • Share-to-Web: scans directly to web-sites (Button not available on scanjet 4400c but function available via software.)
  • Copy: scans directly to printer - photocopier mode.
  • Photo Reprint: arranges multiple photos of different sizes on a single page - saving photo paper.
  • Cancel: quick cancel button to save time.
  • Powersave: energy saving when in idle state.

HP dual sensor CCD technology scans at 48-bit colour, and up to 2400dpi for small details. This is combined with either a 300dpi (4400c series) or 600dpi (5400c series) sensor for everyday fast scanning.
Optimum speed is achieved by automatically selecting the appropriate sensor based upon the type of scan being done.

Scanjet 4400c and 4470c
The HP ScanJet 4400c and 4470c come with Trellix web-creation software.  This allows a home user to create an Internet site on which to store and display scanned images. The scanjet 4470c adds further versatility for photography enthusiasts by including an adapter that scans 35mm slides and negatives.

Scanjet 5400c, 5470c and 5490c
The HP ScanJet 5400c, 5470c and 5490c are bundled with Corel Print Office 2000 allowing users to manipulate scanned images with professional results. The 5470c and 5490c also include an adapter that scans 35mm slides and negatives for photography work.
With an automatic document feeder (ADF) shipped in the box, the 5490c scans up to seven pages per minute, allowing quick and easy scanning of  multiple-page documents.
