HP announce two new sexy, transparent scanners designed around HPs advanced CCD technology. Cool enough to be on show at home and thin enough to be slotted away, the sophisticated HP Scanjets 4600 and 4670 are for the style conscious who seek quality output at fast speeds.

"Scanners are the only link from analogue to digital photos, and as digital imaging becomes increasingly popular they are moving out of the office and into the home", said Tim Potter, HP Digital Imaging Category Manager. "Our scanners take a giant leap forward both in design and functionality and are perfect for sharing precious memories, capturing information or being creative around the home or office."

Boasting a unique, see-through glass lid that scans "face up" the HP Scanjets 4600 and 4670 let users to see exactly what will be captured, allowing for perfect positioning and accurate scanning. They incorporate a unique, low profile CCD technology that still uses dual CCD sensors to ensure all scans are sharp and crisp, and Optical Character Resolution (OCR) technology to allow documents to be digitised into text and easily edited in word processing programmes.

With 2400dpi optical resolution and 48-bit colour the quality of scans is nothing short of outstanding and at just six seconds per document, the speed is incredible. Both scanners are very easy to use and their four one-touch buttons including scan, copy, Instant share and power save make any job simple.

HP say the innovative features and technologies incorporated within the new scanners make creating and sharing images or documents a total breeze:

  • The ArcSoft Panorama Maker software allows large documents including flipcharts, wall planners, paintings and posters to be scanned in a series of sections then automatically "stitched" together, giving A3 scanning and above at a fraction of the cost.
  • The Transparent Media Adapter included with the HP Scanjet 4670 (sold as an accessory for the HP Scanjet 4600) enables simple scanning of 35mm slides or negatives/transparencies
  • HP Instant Share enables pictures to be sent to anyone, including the 34 pre-programmed email, website or printer destinations
  • HP Memories Disc Creator Software allows the creation of DVD slide shows with title screen and music for family and friends to watch via PC, TV/DVD player
  • HP Photo and Imaging Software provides everything needed to capture, personalise and share images, with one set of instructions, icons and menus. The software is available with a variety of HP digital imaging products, from cameras and scanners to printers and all-in-ones for seamless operation across device functions

Stylish, Useable and Reliable
Both the HP Scanjet 4600 and 4670 scanners are not only stylish but are highly robust and durable with the viewing glass resisting scratching, chipping and cracking. The cutting-edge vertical design of the HP Scanjet 4670 also ensures that users have a clutter-free, intuitive working environment.

Pricing and availability
The ultra-slim HP Scanjet 4600 and HP Scanjet 4670 are priced at £149 and £179 respectively and are available from the beginning of October 2003 from selected retailers.
