ICI Imagedata announces Third Olmec Student Digital Photographer Competition

Designed to find the best student digital photographers in the country, the competition has proved a great success over the last two years, with many colleges and students taking part and an excellent standard of work submitted.

The 2004 Competition will, once again, will be open to all students studying photography as part of a full- or part-time course, with an emphasis on the creative use of digital technology - whether camera or computer-based.

The theme of the competition is 'images for life', with five entry categories this year - PEOPLE, PLACES, STILL LIFE, REPORTAGE and FASHION. There will also be a Special Award for the most creative use of image manipulation.

Major Cash Prizes
Winner of the best overall image will receive a cash prize of £2,000, with £250 awarded to the winners of each category and the special award, along with a selection of Olmec™ products. The winning college or university will also receive £500 worth of Olmec products.
The PEOPLE Catergory will be sponsored by Paterson Photographic, the specialist supplier of photographic lights and tripods and major Olmec distributor.

Judging Panel for the 2004 Competition includes Ken Dowling, MD of ICI Imagedata, award winning photographer Richard Mildenhall, Editors Simon Bainbridge of British Journal of Photography, Roger Maile of Digital Photo Art, and Clare Masefield of What Digital Camera. As last year, all shortlisted entrants and tutors will be invited to a London Awards ceremony taking place in early December.

How to Enter
Students can enter through their college or university. Colleges can register for entry by completing an entry form or direct via the ICI Imagedata website at www.ici-imagedata.com.

Closing date for receipt of entries is 15th November 2004.
