The market for digital cameras continues to thrive with yet another sales increase for the first quarter of this year.
According to GfK Marketing the volume of sales is up by 13% on the already record-breaking year the market had in 2007.
Compact cameras may make up 92% of the products sold this year, but it is the increasing popularity of the DSLR's that have really boosted the market.
GfK Marketing said that 54,000 DSLR units were sold in December 2007 many of which were entry level models sold for less then £500.
However, unlike other markets where the average price decreases overtime, the DSLR market has increased and GfK say this is due to the high performance that new, higher end models offer.
