KATA D-Light Range Of Bags Announced

I have looked at a lot of bags . . . these Kata bags, the Tenba, the Tamrac Evolution 7, 8, and 9, the LowePro Pro Trekker 400 AW, and more. One of the problems I have is that every pack that I like is too big for taking on a plane (as a carry-on) or for crawling through caves, etc., and/or it doesn't have a compartment for clothes, or it doesn't have enough side storage pockets, or it doesn't have a real waist belt. I really like the ApeCase ACPRO4000 and ACPRO1900, but again, while it has lots of storage pockets, good straps, and a waist belt, it doesn't have a compartment for clothes, so I have to open the camera equipment compartment in order to get at my clothes and vice versa. I don't like having to open a "main" compartment. I like the idea of compartmentalizing things, just in case I want to open my bag in the rain to get out a jacket, poncho, etc. The LowePro Pro Trekker 400 AW is like this too, with one big compartment, though it is too big anyway. It is probably the best I have seen so far, except that it is way more expensive than this Kata 467-DL or the ApeCase backpacks.

I want something like the Kata 467-DL, but with access to camera equipment from each side, like the Tamrac, and the main compartment opening on the other side (between me and the pack), so that my computer is not being crushed by all my equpment, clothes, and food. It would also be good to have a few extra pockets on the sides, so I can store things in easy reach. (stuff like some breath mints, so they don't shake in my pocket, while I walk, maybe some deodorant or cologne, for when I shoot with a model, extra batteries, my lights for my bike, which I have to take with me or they will get stolen, a stainless steel water bottle as well as a tripod, etc.) Right now I have a Targus back-pack, and I don't like the way the computer is in the main compartment, closest to my back. It also doesn't have a dedicated compartment for camera gear, so I have to take my cameras out of my bag, if I want to take out clothes or food. It isn't very rain-resistant either. I want something with zippers that are covered by a flap. The LowePro Pro Trekker series has a great solution to the rain-resistance issue, with their interior computer case (which is also good when boarding planes) and the top "cover" pouch. Still, that pack doesn't give quick and easy access, like this Kata pack. For the money, I don't think this Kata can be beat.

Here's a bag that I absolutely LOVE, but it is a little big. I wonder if they make a smaller version.
