Kata UK take over distribution of Gitzo products - From 1st July 2006, the distribution of Gitzo products in the UK will be handed over to Kata UK limited.
Kata, which produces high-end bags for professionals around the world in the video, photo, protection-security and high-tech industries markets is in the process of setting up a UK distribution operation which will be run by Greg Cooney, well known within the UK photo and imaging business. Greg will be handling the sales, servicing and marketing of Gitzo products from new premises, shortly to be established near London.
Hasselblad (UK) Ltd has successfully distributed Gitzo products for over fifteen years in the UK. However, following its merger with Imacon some 18 months ago, Hasselblad's development has moved very much towards the high-end professional digital market. Distribution and service of the Gitzo product line will therefore be passed to Kata UK who will be geared up to sell to a much broader customer base.
Simon Barnard, Managing Director of Hasselblad UK states, "We have had a long and happy relationship with Gitzo for many years - as we did with Metz, which we also relinquished recently. However, as our company evolves into the high-end digital world, we feel that it is now time to concentrate further on our own product lines. The exception to this is Profoto professional flash equipment, which we continue to distribute in the UK, as they produce professional products which fit in extremely well with our customer base. We are confident that as a subsidiary of Vitec, Kata will be the ideal distributor for Gitzo products in the future, and we wish Greg every success in his new challenge."
Between now and the end of June, the two companies will be working closely to ensure a smooth and seamless change over, but for the meantime all enquiries for Gitzo products should continue to be addressed to Hasselblad UK Ltd. Full details of the new Kata operation in the UK will be announced nearer the time.
