Press Release:

Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK) today announced that it has sold and installed 1000 KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange (APEX) dry lab units across Europe, Middle East and Africa. The most widely adopted dry lab in Europe, APEX represents the number one choice for retailers in the region. The latest data from Futuresource Consulting shows that Kodak has extended its number one share position in securing one in three of the dry lab placements over the first half of 2010.

“Kodak is leading a revolution in photo-output at retail" said Darren Johnson, Regional Business Director and Vice President, Retail System Solutions, Paper and Output Systems and Film Products, EAMER. "This is much more than a change in technology, Kodak is driving a new consumer experience within this platform which enables a wide range of premium products onsite whilst giving retailers a modular, flexible and cost effective solution. With the recent, highly successful launch of KODAK Picture Kiosk Software V4.0 we have unlocked the potential that connectivity brings, where consumers are able to access their pool of images from sites such as FACEBOOK and the KODAK Gallery. Combine this with an intuitive consumer experience for creative products and Kodak quality onsite fulfilment and you have a winning proposition."

Launched in 2008, APEX is the ultimate modular and adaptable dry lab solution. Available in four cabinet configurations, the adaptive system allows retailers to buy just what they need and grow at their own pace as business needs expand.

Building on its number one European market share position in dry labs and a successful Photokina 2010 in Cologne, Germany, Kodak Retail Systems continue to transform the photo retail centre. From this summer, retailers have enjoyed the added benefits of the new KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange (APEX) Software v4.0 and KODAK Picture Kiosk Software v4.0 which help to create vibrant, reliable and potentially highly profitable photo retail destinations thanks to exciting new technologies. Features such as KODAK Video Snapshots, a first-of-its-kind video-to-still capture application at retail, and Social Network Connectivity mean new, easier and faster ways for people to connect, print and share.

“Despite the economic issues facing many markets, Kodak APEX has had a successful start to the year and we have every confidence that this success will continue through the second half,” added Johnson. "Innovation is a key pillar of Kodak's strategy and we will continue to introduce new innovative products and solutions to both our retail partners and consumers to build on the success we have seen with APEX".

A number one European market share position in dry labs and 1000 sales in two years is testimony to the trust retailers have in Kodak to produce relevant, timely and profitable solutions that meet changing market needs. APEX offers a responsible, energy efficient choice, reducing green house gas emissions due to reduced energy consumption whilst the lack of a requirement for photo processing chemicals and water presents profound changes. APEX consumes 70-90% less energy than comparable traditional minilabs.
