Konica Minolta announce DiMAGE Z10 - 8X Zoom, Rapid-AF with Predictive Focus Control and a 0.5 second start up time
The DiMAGE Z10 with its 8X optical Mega Zoom and 4X digital zoom multiply up to a total 32X zoom, allowing the capture of everything from sport events to panoramic scenery. The optical lens system consists of 11 elements in nine groups and includes two aspheric lenses, a construction that adds up to sharp, high-quality images. The Z10 combines a 3.2-megapixel primary-colour CCD with CxProcess II image processing technology for pictures that are exactly as seen by the minds eye.
The Rapid Autofocus (AF) employed in the DiMAGE Z10 combines a passive AF sensor with the video AF system, giving a fast focusing time of approximately three tenths of a second at both wide angle and telephoto positions. The Rapid AF also has Predictive Focus Control that predicts where a moving subject is headed and focuses accordingly. To round off the list of quick-response features, the DiMAGE Z10 has the fastest startup in its class*1, a minimum shutter release time lag, and continuous shooting. Stress free, amid all the excitement, capture those decisive moments during a sports event or in any other action packed environment.
Not only does the DiMAGE Z10 respond like a sprinter with its fast startup; it's also a marathon champion with power efficiency that allows the taking of up to approximately 500 frames with four AA batteries.
In addition, the DiMAGE Z10 has a Macro mode that allows the positioning of the lens as close as 1 cm from the subject. Capture the smallest of objects-flowers, insects, or jewellery-in the greatest detail.
The DiMAGE Z10 sports a new, high-tech design. Despite its powerful 8X optical zoom, it weighs only 300 g. Its ergonomic form allows a steady grip while its intuitive control button layout allows even camera novices to be enjoying digital photography in no time at all.
- A wide ranging 8X optical Mega Zoom covers everything from landscape shots
to extreme close-ups. Combining the optical zoom with the seamless 4X digital
zoom gives an incredible 32X zoom.
- A high performance lens and 3.2-megapixel CCD with CxProcess II high-quality
image processing technology
- Fastest startup in its class*1-the DiMAGE Z10 is ready to shoot in about
half a second*1.
- Rapid AF with Predictive Focus Control for ultra-high-speed focusing to
capture even the most fleeting photo opportunities
- Four AA batteries provide enough power to the DiMAGE Z10 for an amazing
- Macro mode for close-ups as near as 1 cm from the subject
- Compact and easy to use
Incredible 32X Total Zoom Range
The DiMAGE Z10 offers a wide shooting range. The 8X optical zoom gives focal lengths from 36-290mm (35mm equivalent) while giving focal lengths up to 1160mm (35mm equivalent) when combined with the 4X seamless digital zoom. With the 8X optical zoom and the 4X digital zoom combining for a 32X total zoom, the Z10 is perfect for taking distance shots at sports events or when capturing any far away subjects.
The Z10 incorporates a high performance 8X optical lens consisting of 11 elements in nine groups and includes two aspheric lenses. With it's two aspheric lenses, the Z10 corrects optical aberrations in the zoom range and renders beautiful, consistent, distortion-free images from the centre to the edges.
3.2-Megapixel CCD for Beautiful Prints
The 3.2-megapixel, 1/2.5 inch CCD produces rich detail for creating high-quality enlargements-as large as 34.7x26.0 cm at 150 dpi print resolution. In addition, the CCD's primary colour filter offers high colour fidelity.
Fastest Startup in Its Class*1
The DiMAGE Z10 boasts an amazingly fast and fluid startup. Just switch the camera on and it's ready to start taking great pictures in approximately half a second*1.
Rapid Autofocus (AF) with Predictive Focus Control
Thanks to a hybrid rapid AF combining a passive AF sensor with the video AF system, focusing takes just three tenths of a second. The DiMAGE Z10 includes Predictive Focus Control, which allows the capture of sharper images of moving subjects-like a child running full speed. When it comes to fast and reliable Autofocusing, the DiMAGE Z10 is clearly ahead of the pack.
The DiMAGE Z10 allows the taking of high-speed consecutive shots at 1.5 fps. (approx.) and the Z10 captures consecutive images onto the 16MB internal buffer memory. Release the shutter and the last six shots are recorded onto the memory card. This function is handy for shooting sports events or for recording and improving your form in the practice of sporting sequences.
Up to 500 Frames on Four AA Batteries
The DiMAGE Z10's power-saving design allows the taking of up to 500 frames before the batteries run out.
Superbly Detailed Images with CxProcess II
CxProcess II image processing technology defines smooth gradations, natural skin tones, and brilliantly clear colours for images that are natural and lifelike. The DiMAGE Z10's 3.2 Megapixels capture fine lines and intricate details for stunning digital images.
Noise Reduction gives exceptional night images by automatically preventing the blemishes and graininess associated with slow-shutter speed during low light picture taking.
P.A.S.M. Exposure Control and Metering Modes
The DiMAGE Z10 offers incredible control over exposure. There are four modes: Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual. Select manual exposure to enable up to 30-second time exposures. The DiMAGE Z10 has three metering modes: Multi-segment, centre-weighted, and spot. Multi-segment metering uses 256 segments to determine exposure.
Automatic Digital Subject Program Selection
Automatic Digital Subject Program Selection automatically chooses the best recording mode. Alternatively Manually select from Portrait, Sports action, Landscape, and Sunset modes or set the DiMAGE Z10 to Night portrait mode from the available menu settings.
Get as Close as 1cm with Macro
Shoot amazing close-ups in Macro mode. The Konica Minolta superior image quality will make your close-ups look stunning and powerful. In Macro mode, position the lens as close as 1cm from the subject.
The DiMAGE Z10's Switch Finder function allows you to view the LCD monitor images through the viewfinder (Viewfinder display) or on the LCD monitor itself (Monitor display). There is no colour, contrast, or resolution difference between the images viewed on the viewfinder or LCD monitor as both are generated from the same hardware. The viewfinder was designed with a large apparent angle of view so the image is large and clear.
For added flexibility and convenience, the flash button can be customised to handle different settings. This means that instead of going through the menus on the LCD, one can use the flash button to change settings like the drive mode, white balance, focus mode, colour mode, or CCD sensor sensitivity.
Forget all about complicated connections with a PC. Get fast, fun printouts directly from your camera by connecting the DiMAGE Z10 to a PictBridge*3-compliant printer. Simply check which images to print on the Z10's LCD monitor and then print out the favourites.
VGA Movie Recording
The DiMAGE Z10 can record movies without sound. It records 15-fps VGA size (640x480) movies; it also records QVGA 320x240 movies at either 30 fps or 15 fps. The XR (Extended Recording) Movie mode allows the recording of longer movie clips onto the SD memory card until the card is full. Night Movie uses high camera sensitivity to record under extreme low-light conditions. And Movie Frame Capture allows the selection of favourite scenes from a movie to save as still images.
The DiMAGE Z10 design is advanced yet familiar and easy-to-use. Despite its versatile 8X zoom range, it weighs just 300 g. It's also a pleasure to carry and operate, even for camera novices. The ergonomic form makes it easy to hold even for those long zoom shots.
Optional Wide Converter (Wide-Angle Converter ZCW-200)
The optional Wide Converter Kit when attached to the lens has the equivalent of a 26mm wide angle, which is ideal for capturing indoor groups or outdoor architecture and panoramic landscape shots.
