LaCie CD-RW 16x takes a leap in speed

LaCie's new SCSI and FireWire CD-RW-161040 drives boast the fastest writing speed ion the market. The 16x recording speed means you can burn an entire 650Mb CD-R disc in just four minutes, or a 650CD-RW disc in only six minutes. The 10x re-writing speed and the 40x playback speed are also the highest available performance levels in the industryand particularly useful to those who regularly work with data from CD-ROMs. Other technological innovations ensure a continuous data stream, to guarantee high quality recordings.

Two models are available: FireWire and SCSI III. With FireWire support, the CD-RW-161040 is hot-pluggable and can be removed or swapped with other devices without requiring the computer to be restarted. The drive mounts automatically as soon as it is connected. There is no need for terminators, device IDs or elaborate set-up. The 161040s SCSI-3 model is fully compatible with previous narrow SCSI generations.

The CD-RW-161040 is available through LaCie's authorised resellers and mail order partners at the recommended price of 399 for the CD-RW 161040i (FireWire) and 352 for the CD-RW 161040s (SCSI-3).

Each drive is bundled with cables, one recordable disc (16x/80mn), one rewritable disc and the LaCie Recording Utilities, EasyCDcreator and DirectCD for Windows 98SE/NT/2000/ME and Toast 4.1.1 for MacOS. All LaCie drives are fitted with an international power supply.
